Tender climber with white flowers in June, pink, cream and green leaf colour, best on a sunny wall. Very striking wall covering, vigorous twining climber.

A not-to-vigorous climber that has little purple, fragrant flowers in spring/early summer. It's very pretty and delicate and looks lovely trained over e.g. a wrought iron arch.

Less often seen than its purple cousin, this has the same type of fine, lacy leaves and has clusters of small fragrant, white flowers in early spring. 2l pot

Heart-shaped leaves, evergreen, small spines. This goes to about 15' and will takes temperatures to around -5C. Needs support over trellis or netting on a shaded wall or fence. It prefers partial shade, shelter from cold winds and a mulch on the roots against winter frost is a good idea. Neutral to acid soil, humus rich, well drained. Blooms June to September with coral coloured berry like flowers.

Our plants are now about 2' tall and are sold in 2 litre, deep pots. This plant may be familiar to you from holidays in warm places where it scrambles all over walls and balconies. We've had one growing here for at least 12 years and it has survived the 09/10 winter.

A small flowered Clematis with rose pink flowers. A beautiful herbaceous climber which does well in with other plants. With support can go to 6' tall. Flowers 2" in diameter, blooming from June to September.

A low growing Clematis going to just over 3' and flowering over a long time, the flowers are blue with a yellow centre. Perfect for pots or scrambling through shrubs, non-climbing. Cut back each spring and allow new growth to leap away!

This strongly fragrant white Clematis has small flowers borne on a scrambling rumbunctious vine that makes a deliciously pretty, highly scented tangle up a pergola in the Nursery. Its common name is fragrant virgin's bower. It stops everyone who walks past it because the perfume is so sweet and the starry mass so lovely. Hardy. 2l pot.

8' tall, creamy yellow 5" flowers and generous flowering from mid-May to July and again at the end of August.. Ideal for containers and likes a bit of shade. Prune between the end of February and the beginning of April.

A compact but vigorous plant with mauve pink cup shaped flowers in summer. Deciduous.

Richly coloured mauvish blue flowers 6" across, with dark red anthers, this Clematis grows to 8' to 12'. The May/June flowers are double and the September re-flowering shows single flowers. Very beautiful.

Rich purple velvet flowers 5" across on a climber around 9' tall. After it has flowered late in the year, prune it in February or March. It's a terrific Clematis for climbing through shrubs and trees.

The one in the picture is happily scrambling up a telegraph pole and spreading sideways to hoick itself up through neighbouring shrubs. it's a wonderful display in late April/May/June. It goes to about 10' and is happy in sun or partial shade. Light pruning. 2l pot.

A really good double Montana, this has 2" double pink flowers late May to June. H. 15' The dark foliage is particularly attractive and this variety needs little pruning if you have the space to let it have its head. Has the British Clematis Society's Certificate of Merit.

A vigorous climber wonderful for covering walls and pergolas. Clear white flowers from spring to early summer. Very hardy so good on exposed sites. Needs little pruning other than taking off dead or damaged growth after flowering. H.36'

This 100 year old plant is one of the best known Clematis. With soft pink flowers that have a darker bar down the middle of each petal, it grows to about 10', bearing its flowers in early summer and late summer. Prune in late winter or early spring.

This is a delightful winter-flowering Clematis species with a subtle scent. The colouring is creamy with a touch of green and the bell shaped flowers have purple anthers. It's deciduous in summer and looks as if it's dead, so might do best grown with something else or through a supporting shrub. In milder gardens it may retain some leaves and new growth breaks through in autumn. Grows to about 18’. It flowers from December onwards with us. This is a very subtle plant and is one for the connoisseur, being quite rarely seen.

A vigorous climber with masses of scented star like creamy white flowers in summer and early autumn. H 26' S 9'

This Clematis is like a summer's day on a stick. It has the most wonderful blue flowers and masses of them. This photo was taken of one we have growing on a pergola in the Nursery and it's just smothered with flowers about 4" across from mid-summer to the middle of autumn. Cut back the stems to a pair of strong buds about 6" above the ground before new growth begins in spring. Full sun, partial shade, well drained soil. H 15' S. 5'. Hardy. 2 litre pot.

This is a late blooming and very vigorous Clematis which is a big asset in the garden if you have space for it. Ours grows up and among a Rosa banksia lutea on the house front but it can scramble up into trees or over pergolas, going to about 20'. Its pale yellow bell shaped flowers, have slightly reflexed tips to the petals and have a scent of cowslips. It's immensely attractive and quite unusual. Cut it back in spring if desired. Plant in full sun or partial shade in fertile, well-drained soil and mulch its roots in autumn but don't cover the crown. Fully hardy.

Pure white flowers with a greenish white centre in early summer, repeating later. The name means Snow White. Grows 6' to 8'.
Prune lightly in late Feb/early March.

This is an unusual Clematis which somewhat resembles a passion flower. The flowers are about 4" in diameter and have creamy tepals in summer changing to creamy green in autumn. There is an eye catching central boss of purple stamens which stay on the plant for a while after the outer tepals have fallen off. This is a good plant for smaller gardens or containers and needs to be guided up a trellis or allowed to trail through other shrubs. Well-drained soil in full sun and a mulch of well-rotted compost in spring.
Remove dead or damaged stems in early spring before it starts into growth and cut remaining stems back to visible buds. Best grown in a sheltered position on a warm wall because, although hardy, it doesn't like cold winds.

Masses of deep yellow nodding bells in late summer with eye-catching seed heads that will hold on right into winter. The seed heads look magical when caught by a light frost. It's best scrambling over a pergola or other support but can be cut right back in spring, if necessary.

A deciduous climber with single, bell shaped, striped red pink flowers with a white edge in summer and early autumn. Most soil types. Part shade to full sun. Hardy. H. 12' S. 3'

8-10' high with deep pink & white flowers. If cut back after flowering in early summer, it will produce a second flush in autumn. Also good as a cut flower.

Known as the cup and saucer plant, this scrambling climber started to flower in January in the greenhouse. If growing it outside, collect seed and start again each year because it will grow to 10' in one summer.

This is a charming little climber that doesn't get much over 10' but happily wends its way through a tree or shrub or up a trellis. We have rarely seen it anywhere else and can't think why because it flowers generously and repays the gardener generously if planted where its delicate beauty can be enjoyed. It's a hardy perennial and returns every year in our garden. Toxic if eaten. Plant in acid, alkaline or neutral soil which is moist but well-drained. It will take partial shade and likes to grow up, into sunlight. 2 litre pot.

While some sources say this plant is 'safe' outside in very mild locations, our advice is to grow it in a conservatory where it will grow and flower very much better and where its scented yellow flowers can be enjoyed far more. Grow in acid, most humus-rich soil and give it a cool root run. This evergreen twining plant has glossy leaves and can get to 20' if planted against a warm wall. As this is related to the plant that produces Curare, be aware that all its parts are TOXIC. 2 litre pot.

H 15' spreads 10'. Fully hardy evergreen and very handsome ivy, variegated yellow & green leaves.

This is a marvellous screening plant which is evergreen and a twining climber. In late spring it bears small purplish tinged cream flowers which have the most outstanding scent. Customers who encounter this ensure that it just flies out of the door every spring! Purple sausage-shaped fruits in very warm summers - the seeds can be used to propagate more plants. This is a herbaceous climber which disappears over winter and reappears in spring when it will shoot up like a rocket. Very vigorous twining climber which is a lovely lime/golden colour which sets others plants off beautifully. Grow in sun to get the best colour.

Fully hardy, deciduous climber suitable for a north wall. Creamy white flowers in June. As with all Hydrangeas make sure it gets enough water if planted against a wall.

One of the climbing Hydrangeas but a more unusual one. Here, we show it scrambling over a low wall in our garden but it will grow up walls and trees. Evergreen and flowering mid summer to early autumn with us. 2l.pot

A twining deciduous climber this jasmine has purply-red buds, opening to white, heavily perfumed summer flowers. Grow in well drained fertile soil in full sun or light shade. Reasonably hardy. Vigorous. Up to 25' if unpruned S 10'. Prune out old, thin stems after flowers drop to promote new flowers following year.
